The house was built during the late Edwardian period, (1912), as a family home and still has most of its original features showing the typical mixed influences at the time of Elizabethan panelling, Tudor beams, The Arts and Crafts Movement and the stylised tulip design banister influenced by the unique style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The 1½ acre gardens, which guests are welcome to discover and enjoy, overlook Chapel-en-le-Frith golf course, Comb Reservoir and across the Peak Park. It is essentially a family home which your hosts, Elaine and Steve Clarke feel privileged to share with you; we place great emphasis on guest care and comfort in a welcoming environment. Our Rooms All four en-suite bedrooms have magnificent views over the surrounding countryside and garden and are individually decorated to a very high standard. Our beds, duvets, linen and soft furnishings are of a high quality and our en-suites have either shower cubicles or bath or both. Colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, clock radio alarm, hairdryer, information browsers to help plan your stay and many other extras are provided to enhance your stay. Activities The Peak Park has many facilities for outdoor activities including 4 golf courses, a golf driving range, hand-gliding, para-gliding, helicopter rides and is also a wonderful area for walking, cycling, rock climbing and pot holing. Converted railway tracks offer traffic free routes for horse riders and cyclists. Bikes can be hired at these tracks for the day, or bring your own; we can store them safely here at High Croft. There are many places and attractions within easy reach of High Croft which are well worth a visit. These include, Castleton Caverns, the limestone caves of the Blue John Mines, Speedwell Cavern and the picturesque village of Castleton. The great houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Eyam Hall, Lyme Park to name but a few are all within a short drive away.
