Shepherds Barn is dog-friendly, 5 star self catering accommodation found on the farm of the internationally acclaimed sheepdog handler, Thomas Longton. Thomas is most publicly recognised for winning the supreme championship and the title of One Man and His Dog, the opening sequences of the popular TV programme were filmed at Thomas's farm in the beautiful Forest of Bowland.

The sheepdog training workshops give you the opportunity of a unique activity holiday, the art of sheepdog handling can be tailored to suit your needs. Visitors to the cottage without a dog are most welcome and are invited to take the opportunity to watch Thomas work and train his working dogs and times are available should you wish to spectate.
This rare opportunity also gives you the chance to work one of Thomas’s dogs yourself and live the thrill and excitement of handling a working border collie to bring the sheep from the meadows, as you will be under the supervision of Thomas no experience is necessary.

Visitors to Shepherds Barn can undertake one to one tuition with their dog/s. The price of a session would be £10.00 and this will be tailored to your dogs individuals needs.
 

Accommodation
The cottage is over 100 years old and offers magnificent, spacious contemporary accommodation.
The galleried entrance hall with oak floor and oak central staircase leads through to a 30' lounge and dining room which is separated by a real flame drift wood fire set in a marble basket reaching from floor to ceiling.
The three large bedrooms, which are King, double, and twin, all have a large fireplace with real flame fires. Two bedrooms have spacious walk in wardrobes and each room has a large luxury bathroom including bath and shower.

Prices quoted are per week and depend on the number of bedrooms required-
the whole barn plus 1 bedroom.........£600.00
the whole barn plus 2 bedrooms.......£700.00
the whole barn plus 3 bedrooms.......£800.00

The choice of bedroom is yours on arrival. There are 2 doubles and a twin all spacious and en suite.

Short breaks available (min 3 nights).

Free Luxury accommodation for dogs! Shepherds Barn provides 8 kennels each has a 4 foot x 3 foot double cavity sleeping area with a 6 foot x 4 foot run.
The kennels are for your use, free of charge should you wish to bring your pet dog or your Border collie dog for a training course during your stay.  You can also utilise the kennel facility whilst you visit the surrounding areas should you wish.

A dog bath is provided at the side entrance to the barn, which is easily located by the original stone flag belonging to the floor of the original barn which has been inscribed ‘Doggy Dip’.
